Teaser and Top Ten Tuesday- 10/4/11

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be ReadingAnyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser:

“Jenna Fox is inside me after all. Just when I was ready to move on without her, she surfaces.”

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It’s a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers while simultaneously enjoying the fun of a list! And what’s more, a list about BOOKS! What could be better?

This week’s list is: Top Ten Book Endings That Left Me With My Mouth Hanging Open

Holy tough question, Batman. I don’t know that I’ll be able to think of ten of these (although when I read everyone else’s, answers I’ll probably be nodding and going “Ohhhh, riiiiiight!)

In no particular order…

1. Possession by Elana Johnson– While I had a lo-ot of problems with this book (review to come), I didn’t see the ending coming at all, but it worked. It’s pretty much all that’s responsible for getting me to book two.

2. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin- (Review to come) I don’t want to spoil anyone, but let’s just say that just when I thought things were basically wrapped up in a nice shiny ribbon until book two, something else happened that made my fingers twitch in want of book two.

3. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins- Mostly because “You love me. Real or not real?” is included in that ending. (Peeta. I melt.)

4. Stolen by Lucy Christopher- I think I sort of expected a happily ever after. There wasn’t one.

5. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher- This one. THIS ONE is because of the fact that the way the book ends is the way we know it has to end, but you can’t help but wish differently. This book is so incredible.

6. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray- The group didn’t remain the way I expected it to… and I hope that was vague enough for anyone who hasn’t gotten to the book yet.

7. Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin- One of my all time favorite books, but I actually didn’t expect a happy ending, and when I did expect one I expected a totally happy one, not one that missed something. (Being so vague is killing me)

8. Matched by Ally Condie- Not that the ending wasn’t good, but for the most part I was surprised because I didn’t know that I was signing up for a series.

9. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling- Because I didn’t expect the picture perfect epilogue (but unlike half the world, I actually liked it).

10. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan- Didn’t realize I would be set up for The Son of Neptune (comes out today, eeee!) like that, but was shocked with Jason’s realization!

Well look at that! I found ten! What was on your list?
