Goodreads summary:

Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in.

It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for.

Review:

A quick, mini review for you guys because this is another one of those books that I waited too long to write a review for.

Which is a damn, damn shame because I loved Scarlet. Book gave me major female empowerment feels and is an awesome Robin Hood retelling. It took a little bit for me to get into because of the voice– Scar’s not one for proper grammar– but then I was with her for the rest of the story.

But there was just so much to love in Scarlet. The character is basically the definition of a strong female main character, despite the fact that many of the men she allies herself with seem determined to “take care of her.” And when one of them pulls the cliched Nice Guy schtick on her, she tells him what’s what, which I LOVED. Scar’s talent in all of the action (which was AMAZING) made me love her even more.

It took me a while to come around to Rob because bro has some attitude problems, but in the end, he definitely gave me that swoopy, swoony feeling.

…I hate when I feel like I’m not doing a book justice. (I LOVED THIS BOOK!) so I’ll tell you a rating here: I gave Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen 5/5 stars. Read some of the reviews I’ve linked below because I think they did it justice more than I did.
