It’s long been said that if the first words you speak on the first day of the month are “Rabbit, rabbit,” you’ll have good luck for the rest of the month. And start the month off well. It’s a common British superstition, though it’s not UNcommon in the U.S. The exact reason isn’t clear, but it’s probably related to the fact that rabbits have long been thought to be lucky animals.
Well, I’m calling bull.
You know why?
Because my BILLS are due at the beginning of the month.
For the majority of the month, when I log onto mint.com or even my bank’s website, I am so happy. Because with one glance, I am happily sighing and thinking “Ah, yes. I have money! Yay, money!”
But today (although I am pleasantly surprised that this Wednesday of the 4-day week still feels like a Wednesday, as opposed to double Tuesdays), I have to pay my rent. And my credit card. And my OTHER credit card.
And that is no way to start the month off on the right foot.
