I cannot tell you guys how long I’ve wanted to participate in Dewey’s 24-hour readathon, held every April and October. It seems like I always had a scheduling conflict or missed the memo when it came time for it though.
But huzzah! This time, I’m in! I have the whole day free tomorrow, April 21st, and it’s supposed to storm ALL DAY. It’s like the universe (or at least some high and low pressure systems) WANT me to participate in the readathon, which starts at 8 A.M. my time (EST).
It’s come at an excellent time for me too. I’m a bit behind on my Goodreads challenge of 150 books for the year, so my ultimate goal is to be on track with that by Sunday morning at 8 A.M. I’d like to finish:
Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick– Originally gifted to me by one of my favorite people, Angel of Mermaid Vision Books, I’m reading this one first since I’m trading it with the awesome Anna of Literary Exploration for her ARC of Bitterblue and I need to get it in the mail tomorrow! My trip to the post office will be one of my reading breaks. 🙂 (8 AM: Started; 11:35 AM: Finished!)

Realistically, I don’t expect to accomplish all eight of these, but if I make it through the first 6 (that’s what I need to catch up on my Goodreads challenge!), I want to know what to pick up next!

1:30 AM:
I’m totally exhausted, so I think I’m calling a close on my first ever read-a-thon. And though I didn’t meet my goal of 6 books, I’d still call it a relative success. From 8 AM to 1 AM I took 2 eating breaks, 1 exercise break, a couple “my-dog-needs-attention” breaks and managed to read 5 books and a total of 1,707 pages.
Putting today in the win column even if Goodreads informs me I’m still behind on my challenge. I caught up A LOT today!
