Why I didn’t finish it:
What I hoped to find in Dead Girl Moon was an exciting novel with developed characters. I got less than that. Way, way less.
The characters were flat and unlikeable, and nothing about their personalities (or lack thereof) made me care about the characters. I had a difficult time buying the depth of the corruption in their Montana town. I didn’t get enough from the novel to explain my doubts away. The writing itself was stilted and boring– which should have been difficult for a murder mystery.
My expectations of a book don’t have to mesh with reality as long as the end result is something enjoyable, but I gave this one 90 pages to convince me it was that, and it didn’t do the job.
