Camp Wordsmith: Week 3 Check-in

Camp Wordsmith is a weekly venture in which Angel of Mermaid Vision BooksChrista of Hooked on Books, and I post about our work in writing over the past week. We’ll also discuss various issues to do with craft. The goals here are simple. We want to write, so we’re making a public effort before all of our followers and readers to do so. And by the end? We hope to make it a little closer to our dreams of being published.

Week 3
Stage: First draft and planning
Word Count: 1200
Total Word Count: 2300

Posts that helped or motivated me this week: Agent Mary Kole with “A Little Pick-Me-Up for 2012″ and Agent Kate Schafer Testerman on taking things a bit at a time

Not a lot of progress made this past week, but something is better than nothing! And I have lots of time between today and tomorrow to up the word count for when I report in next week. Especially because I’m reaching a scene that I think is going to be lots of fun to write.

You know what? I’m going to go ahead and set a 3,000 word goal for this week. If I did more than that during NaNoWriMo, I should be able to handle this without a problem. And I already feel more energetic for the upcoming week than I did last week– I was WIPED.

Goals and energy: both positive things that should lead to productivity this week. Check in next week to see how I fared!
