Like many of you, I’ve become enamored of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The web series developed by Hank Green and Bernie Su is a modernization of Jane Austen’s classic novel, Pride & Prejudice and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that the series had drastically amplified my love of the novel by bringing it to our era.
Doesn’t hurt that the cast is fun to look at, either.
With the holidays coming up, we know that a gift of Christmas train is great for Mr. Bennet, but what to get for the LBD fangirl (/fanboy) or Janeite in your life?
The “Digerati:” For LBD fans, following the story via internet
Would it be a Hank Green-affiliated project without its own merch in the DFTBA store? I think not! Check these adorable buttons, great for sticking on your favorite bags. $4.00 USD on DFTBA (Also featuring these cute caricatures of the characters: a poster and a T-shirt!)
Because I know from YouTube comments that many religious LBD viewers have never read Pride & Prejudice (travesty!). Correct the grievous gap in their education with the original novel. This edition is the Oxford Illustrated, so it’s probs gorgeous. There may be some spoilers but LBD puts such a unique spin on P&P that the surprises will still be aplenty. $35 on Amazon.
Look at Lizzie & Darcy looking lovingly (*cough* smirking) into each other’s eyes. These silhouettes are based on the actors Daniel V. Gordh and Ashley Clements, who play the Darcy & Lizzie in the LBD. From kathartist on etsy. $11.50 USD
The Literary Hipster: The Janeite who liked Pride & Prejudice before LBD made it cool(er):
The best of today mixed with the best of yesterday: This phone charger created from a gorgeous edition of Pride & Prejudice complements any Janeite’s decor. From Canterwick on Etsy. $55.00 USD
This is at the TOP of my personal list (despite the fact that I have little use for it in South Florida). This infinity scarf is printed with a passage from Pride & Prejudice when Darcy & Elizabeth are at the height of their OTP-ness. From storiarts on Etsy. $42.00 USD
The crossover: Great for Janeites or LBD fangirls
One of the quotes from Pride & Prejudice that found its way into the very first episode of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Perfect for someone whose phone is practically attached to their hand. Let them declare their nerdiness in style with this phone case. From thisgirlgabbie on Etsy. $28.00 USD.
And because I couldn’t resist including this: For the Janeite who’s also a Whovian
This print reads “Seeking haven from Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet chances upon a strange blue box.” Personally, I think Lizzie would make a great companion for the Doctor. From ParodiesLost on Etsy. $16.95 USD.
Hope you have a very merry Bennet Christmas (or holiday)!
Note: I make no claims as to knowing whether or not the vendors have this product in stock when this post goes up.
