February 12: Top Ten Favorite Romances
————————-
Yay! Perfect two-days-before-Valentines-Day list! Let’s dive in.
1) Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie- I have some serious love for Jennifer Crusie’s work. Bet Me, in particular, is sweet, funny, sexy, and wonderful. And I’ve read it more times than I can count. One of the few adult books on my list
2) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins- I hope by now that I do not need to explain this to you because Anna and the French Kiss is sweet perfection.
3) The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith- Coincidence or fate? What are the chances that you find love randomly in an airport? If you’re Oliver and Hadley– rather good.
4) Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin- I know some people have issues with how this romance happens, but it got me through some tough times and I’ll always have a soft spot for it.
5) Just One Day by Gayle Forman- Oh my God. I just read this two days ago and am still thinking about it (expect a review soon). Allyson couldn’t just get over Willem and I can’t just get over this book.
6) This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen- My FIRST Sarah Dessen. I will never forget the moment that Remy buys Dex plasticware… Favorite moment.
7) Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson- Disregarding the fact that other elements of the book made me sob like a child, the romance that unfolds between Amy and Roger is so cute and is done so well. They find their way through their own personal issues and then to each other.
8) For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund- This book is SO GORGEOUS. Holy wow. But besides the gorgeous prose, I love seeing Kai and Elliot find their way back to each other. Seeing them at such odds made my heart hurt
9) Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi- Really though, Usagi/Serenity/Sailor Moon and Mamoru/Endymion/Tuxedo Kamen are my OTP to end all OTPs.
I do have other favorite couples, but seeing as some of them haven’t found their way to each other yet (*cough* Kai & Cinder) and others I don’t remember the romance of the books AS MUCH because other elements of the book mattered more to me (*cough* Katsa and Po), so including them in the list felt somehow… wrong.
May you all find a book to love this week! Happy early Valentine’s Day!

OMG I will never forget the moment Remy buys Dexter plasticware too. Or the potato opus. “Don’t you ever give me no rotton tomato, ’cause all I ever wanted was your sweet potato.” (I also like the kumquat variation. I always wanted This Lullaby to be a film, so I could see a band perform The Potato Opus.)
You already know I love Just One Day and Anna and the French Kiss. And Sailor Moon, but that’s ALWAYS a given.
JEN. Did I know you liked Something Borrowed and Bet Me? If I didn’t I’m glad I know now. I have such a soft spot for those books and I always compare adult contemps to them.
As for the rest of this list, YES.
Anna and Etienne! They’ve been making the rounds this week! :D I also have TSPoLaFS on my list this week too…it’s such a sweet story!
I love your choices for top romances in books, especially Katsa and Po :-)
I REALLY need to read Anna and the French Kiss. I have heard nothing but rave reviews for it. Great list!
I agree. Anna and the French Kiss is basically perfection. It’s probably one of my favorite books. It’s just so sweet!

Oh my gosh! For Darkness Shows the Stars!! LOVE!! I totally forgot about them! And I can’t WAIT to read Just One Day! Fantastic list!
I also like Something Borrowed! It’s not an “ideal” romance but it works and I love it. This Lullaby is my favourite Sarah Dessen and Remy and Dex also made it on my list! You’ve got a great list here! :)
I haven’t read Something Borrowed but I remember everyone FREAKING OUT about it before when the movie came out and I think I might read it even though I already know what happens (due to the titles of the sequels and such, hahah).
And I read This Lullaby a few years ago, but I think it was when my heart was going through a super bitter phase because I can’t remember any cute plasticware scene. I think a reread is in order!
Love your list:) Something Borrowed is a book I love:)
Okay, I just requested Just One Day and I may have to come back so that I can check out some of the rest. I really want to read For Darkness Shows the Stars.
There is only one thing on this list that I require more exposure to – Sailor Moon. I watched for a while when I was younger, but then stopped. You’re practically convincing me I need to pick it up again!
