June 12: Top Ten Books I’d Recommend As Good Beach Reads
For beach reads, I tend towards light contemporary reads, with a healthy helping of romance, and that’s pretty much what you’ll find on this list. This is an ugly-cry free zone.
1) This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen- Oh, my first Sarah Dessen novel. I will forever have a crush on Dex. HATE SPINNERBAIT. This one is filled with giggly and swoony moments that make it perfect for the beach!
2) The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares- Okay, I’ll be honest this one made me cry a leetle but NOT BAD. It’s safe, I swear– no ugly crying at the beach. Heart-warming healthy girl friendships. In fact, I recommend this entire series for beach reading. EXCEPT Sisterhood Everlasting. Because that one is fantastic but DEFINITELY involved ugly crying.
3) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins- Okay. I really… just. Read this book, if you haven’t. Read it ANYWHERE. Including, but not limited to the beach. (I almost did a ridiculous rhyme here a la Dr. Suess: “On the beach, with a peach! Read IT here, read it there, please God, READ IT ANYWHERE”
…OKAY, so I did the rhyme. It was longer before.)
4) The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith- I love this book almost as much as I love Anna. Same comments go. Read it ANYWHERE.
5) Boy Meets Girl by Meg Cabot- Sweet and funny, a classic Meg Cabot novel
6) Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie- No one does adult romantic comedy like Jennifer Crusie. NO ONE. And Bet Me is my favorite of all her books.
7) Heist Society by Ally Carter- A bit more adventurous than my other recommendations, but BEYOND fun. And contemporary. And a strong female main character. And a swoony boy.
8) The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler- There is a strong nineties nostalgia factor in The Future of Us… I often associate nostalgia with the beach and thus… good beach read.
9) Catching Jordan by Miranda Keneally- Ohhh, this is such a sweet and fantastic book and Jordan is such wonderful character. She’s funny and down to earth and there’s so much outdoorsy-ness through her football practices that it’s perfect to read outside!
10) Match Me if You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips- It may be that no one does romantic comedy like Jennifer Crusie, but SEP certainly comes damn close.

Great list! I’ve been staring at Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight @ work for the last couple weeks, and have reaaaaallyy been wanting to pick it up!
I would add 13 Little Blue Envelopes or Sloppy Firsts to my recs. I love those books for the beach!!
Anna and the French Kiss would be a great beach read! It’s such a fun book.
I haven’t read Catching Jordan but I keep hearing good things about it. I may have to add it to my Summer reading list.
Totally agree with the Sarah Dessen book. I have one of hers on my list too. I can’t wait to read Catching Jordan. I just have a few more books to read for review and then I can start that one. Great list! My Top Ten Tuesday
I love your list! Heist Society is such an awesome pick! Those are such fun books.
You must read Amy & Roger! It might be the best Summer read EVER! :)
Love the rhyming. Anything by Jennifer Cruise is a plus. My Top Ten Tuesday
Ah so many great romances on this list. I also have Sarah Dessen at the top of my TTT this week. Her writing was made for summertime!

I picked Anna and The French Kiss and The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight as well. I almost included Heist Society as well. And now I totally want to read This Lullaby.
I have SPoLaFS on my list too and I have Lola instead of Anna (but both are great beach reads). I tried to limit myself to books I’ve read in the past year or I would have included at least one Meg Cabot book and it probably would have been Boy meets Girl – so cute!
what a great list! i’ve read most of them & they’re pretty great. love anything by meg cabot, as well as all the others. only one i haven’t read is catching jordan & its on my tbr pile.
Catching Jordan seems great. And I’m sure everyone has put Anna on their lists, haha! Great list!
Check out my TTT?
oh so many good ones that I’ve been meaning to read. I totally put Anna on my list too!

SO many good books. I forgot about so many of these when making my list. I definitely agree with what you said about Anna. If you haven’t read it you DO need to read it! (:

I completely agree with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Heist Society and Anna and the French kiss being good beach reads.
I also liked that you included a Meg Cabot book even though I haven’t read that book yet.
Great picks!! I loved the Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight too! :) It was so cute!!

OOOH GREAT LIST. Of the ones I’ve read, I definitely agree that they make great beach reads (I will read them when I visit you with Katie and we go to the beach xD). I will definitely have to check out the ones I haven’t read, too!
I think these lists are convincing me to read Anna and the French Kiss. After seeing it on like, 10 of them, I can’t not read it, right?
Thanks for stopping by my Top 10 Tuesday!
The books I’ve read are such fun reads that I’m sure the one’s I don’t recognize are too! Now I want to go to the beach!
