Who doesn’t love a good fairy tale? My heart thumps for a Prince Charming, a happily ever after, some morals and adventure along the way… or even, when you look at the real tales, a little bit of gore!
Unless you’ve had your head under a rock, you’ve probably noticed that America is going gaga for fairy tales.
We’ve got movies that retell them in a classical sort of sense:
Movies that put a modern spin on things:
TV Shows are jumping on the bandwagon, and I already think I have a favorite:
| Once Upon a Time will air on ABC next fall |

| Grimm will air on NBC next fall. |
And books… there are too many to name really, but here’s a few that I’ve either read, or want to read:

No cover art has been released yet for Cinder by Melissa Meyer, set to release in 2012, but I can’t wait to read it! |
But fairy tales have been told and retold for ages. It’s just that now they’re gaining an extra dose of popularity. It’s a Fairy Tale Fad! A Fairy Tale Fenomenon! (I know, I spelled it wrong on purpose, calm down, kids)
Or maybe just a Fairy Tale Flood. My prediction is it’ll calm back down to a trickling stream eventually, so I’m going to sit back, relax, and enjoy all the retellings that are inundating me until the Powers That Be decide it is no longer “in.”
And also, in the meantime, I think I’m going to brush up on my Grimms’.

Can’t hurt, right?

This is a lovely post! I’m quite enjoying the fairy tale resurgence too – I think spurred on by Kate and William, a total modern day fairytale.
Thank you! And yes, I agree, they definitely are the living fairy tale these days!
I can’t wait for the Grimm series – I loved their fairy tales as a kid.
(visiting from the Tea Party :) )
The Grimm series looks good… but I think Once Upon a Time looks even better!
I love Ella Enchanted. It’s one of my favorites. Hugh Dancey is a dream. Sigh. Lol. Stopping by from the LBS Social Tea Party.
My copy of Ella Enchanted is so raggedy from the amount I’ve read it that I should really be ashamed.
I think that little girl in all of us never quite goes away. I love fairy tales!
Stopping by from the LBS tea party! :)
Thanks for stopping in! And yes, my inner little girl is alive and well.
I love fairy tales! I am definitely going to go check out those books, I am in need of a new read. Such a cute post! Stopping by from LBS. :)
Oh, there are a ton of retellings out there right now. Just look around online for a bit to see which ones sound like your style. :)

Are they done for good? Tangled was pretty successful and very recent :)
Have you watched the mini series The 10th Kingdom? It’s long of course, but it’s worth it! You should watch it :)
Haven’t heard of it, I’ll have to look into it, thanks!
